Who Gets 1st Scoop When Ferris Acres Opens Tuesday?

The race is on as excitement builds for a new season at the Creamery on Route 302 in Newtown.

Ferris Acres opens for the season at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, and there's a good chance that folks will be there early to be the first to taste a local ice cream favorite.

A Facebook post from Ferris a few weeks ago scooped up more than 30 responses from fans eager to take the title from Jack Lago, who was the first in line in 2013.

The Creamery is located at 144 Sugar St. (Route 302).

What They're Saying

Here's a sampling of what some of Ferris' Facebook fans had to say about the impending season opener:

  • Kinda makes me want to call out sick, or make it a field trip lol

  • Can't wait for our favorite ice cream place to open!!

  • Cannot wait!!!!

  • I will be there no matter what the weather is!!!

According to the National Weather Service, there's a chance that folks will be eating their ice cream with a few rain drops.

For Tuesday, the NWS forecast for Newtown is: "Rain likely, mainly before 8am. Partly sunny, with a high near 62. South wind 13 to 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible."

That Leaves Just Two Questions...

Who is going to be first this year, and what are you going to order?
