Bright, Breezy, Beautiful Fall Weather Returns & Lasts Through the Weekend!

Windy, Chilly, But Beautiful Fall Weather Hits the Area!

Good Morning,

Dry and cooler weather prevails early today as the latest front to move across the Northeast continues to push out into the Atlantic... This front did usher in a gusty wind for a while late last evening, with some places getting gusts of up to 35 mph (like at LaGuardia Airport at around 11:30 p.m.), but these winds diminished overnight...

There should be a decent amount of sunshine today, and it will become breezy in some places this afternoon... Winds above the boundary layer are going to be out of the west and northwest, averaging 20-25 knots... This wind should get 'mixed down to the surface'... And, even though this morning won't be all that breezy with an inverted temperature profile in the lowest 2,000 feet of the atmosphere, this should change this afternoon...

We should have temperatures mostly in the lower 60s, and then tonight will be mostly clear and cool... Most temperatures tonight will be in the 40s...

The coldest of the next three nights will be tomorrow (Friday) night, when it will drop into the mid 30s in many outlying areas...

There'll be a widespread frost in most distant suburbs, and probably even a hard freeze in some sections of upstate New York and interior portions of Connecticut...

There were some earlier concerns that a shower could pop up in some places tomorrow... However, because this boundary will have very limited moisture to work with, and it'll be moving through the area so early in the day, this now seems unlikely...

Temperatures should be in the lower 60s tomorrow, and there will be (at the very least) partial sunshine...

High pressure will be the dominant feature, or 'driving force' behind the weather as we head into the upcoming weekend, which is one of the reasons why it will be so chilly late Friday night / Saturday morning... The sky should be clear and the winds very light, which is a perfect set-up for frost...

Saturday should offer plenty of sunshine, but it will be cool... In fact, the temperature will probably fail to get out of the 50s in many places... Conversely, when the winds on the back side of this large high pressure system begin to shift to the south and then the southwest on Sunday, the

temperature will get quite a 'bounce'... Most places Sunday afternoon will wind up near or just past 70 degrees, and it'll be dry again... As the next front approaches the region on Monday, there could be a shower or two around --- but most temperatures should wind up within a couple of degrees of 70 again before a subtle cooling occurs on Tuesday...

Have a good day!!!
