Saloon To Host Benefit For Needy Families

Looking for a way to help others this holiday season and spread some good will? The Artie Tobia Band wants your help on Saturday, Dec. 17 at their first annual Holiday Jam for Hope at the .

After working with Homes with Hope in Westport, a nonprofit agency dedicated to providing shelter and supportive services in Fairfield County for homeless families to help them re-gain independence and live a self-sufficient life, several families in need have been identified. Their children have written Christmas wishlists.

What is now needed is people to respond to the specific needs of these children and their families as they try to regain their lives.

"It is important to help one another out,” said who will host the event along with his band. The idea came about after Nancy Silverman, the Saloon's owner, held a benefit earlier this month for . She provided the music community that she has supported all these years a venue to help one of their own. 

“We were talking after the Gene Minasi benefit and Artie shared his idea about his Jam for Hope concept,” said Silverman.

Come down and join the party and enjoy a night of community spirit, caring, music and holiday cheer while contributing to the happiness of others through the act of giving.

Specific items needed:

  • Boy 4yr. old w/autism. Learning-related toys, Thomas the Tank Engine and Lightening McQueen A toy box clothing size 4T/5T and could use pants, shirts and underwear.
  • Boy 13yrs.old clothes 38/40 pants , size 1X in shirts, a belt, underwear, PS2 games, a new bike – he is a big boy so a big mountain bike and helmet would be a nice surprise.
  • Girl 9 yrs. old  “Hello Kitty” related items, clothes size 8 pants, medium shirts, “footie” pajamas or Warm winter pajamas, a snow suit, easy-bake oven accessories. Toys-anything Hello Kitty related.
  • Mom could use some pants (size 14/16) and underwear.
  • The family could use some silverware as well.
