Redding Resident's Film on Display at Massachusetts Festival

The following is a press release sent by Sylvia Cancela on behalf of the Berkshire International Film Festival.

The Berkshire International Film Festival kicks off the cultural season in the Berkshires, with the announcement of its 2011 screening of some 70 U.S. and international, independent feature films, documentaries and shorts.

One of the many highlights at the festival will be the presentation of the 2011 Sundance Award-Winning Documentary Film “Buck,” from director and Redding resident Cindy Meehl.

A full listing of films and details on the festival is available on biffma.org. The festival runs from Thursday, June 2 through Sunday, June 5, at various sites in both Great Barrington and Pittsfield, Mass.

“Buck” documents the life and work of original horse whisperer, Buck Brannaman, who travels the country helping horses with people problems. “Your horse is a mirror to your soul, and sometimes you may not like what you see. Sometimes, you will.”

The film follows Brannaman from his abusive childhood to his phenomenally successful, transformative approach to horses; where he teaches people to communicate through leadership and sensitivity, not punishment. In this film, the animal-human relationship becomes a metaphor for facing the daily challenges of life. A truly American story about an unsung hero, “Buck” is about an ordinary man who has made an extraordinary life despite tremendous odds.
