Free Movie Nights for Young and Old

Children crowd into the Weston Library Community Room for Pajama Pictures every Monday evening in July to see a free movie on the big screen. This Monday they will see the Walt Disney animated classic "The Jungle Book".

"The movies are at 6:30 p.m. and the kids can wear pajamas and bring their blankets and The Friends supplies the popcorn," said Karen Tatarka, director of the library.

The movies are sponsored by The Friends of Weston Library.

Tatarka said the library has hosted Pajama Pictures for the past four or five years — always on Mondays and always in July.

"There's quite a following now," Tatarka said Thursday, adding 15 to 20 children and their caregivers come on average for a total of 35 to 40 people.

"It's in the Community Room. It's nice and cool in there," Tatarka said. "It's been so hot the past week."

Tatarka said Pajama Pictures gives parents the opportunity to get their children out of the house and socializing with friends, as well as the chance them to see some movies they grew up with.

Movie Nights Too

Adults can enjoy Movie Night at the library. On July 17, Tatarka said "Quartet" is showing in the Community Room at 7 p.m.

The following month, "42", a movie about baseball great Willie Mays, will be playing.

"That will get a good crowd," Tatarka said.
