Claudia Mengel has been studying, instructing, and making art for many years. After a successful career in the world of finance, she decided to devote herself to her art full-time. An accomplished painter and printmaker whose work is in many private collections in the tri-state area, she exhibits at several galleries and is a member of Silvermine Artist Guild and a member of the Center for Contemporary Printmaking, where she also sits on the board.

The artist received her degree in printmaking from the Brainerd Art School at the State University of New York at Potsdam. She has continued her studies at the Art Students League in New York, the Silvermine Art Center, the Center for Contemporary Printmaking, and the Darien Art Center, as well as with private teachers. She has studied with Robert Reed, Professor of Art at Yale. She also studies and works with Hugh O’Donnell, Professor of Art at Boston University, Constance Kiermaier, a prominent New England artist, Master Printer Marina Anacona, and Master Printer Anthony Kirk, who has printed with major American artists including Helen Frankenthaler and Wolf Kahn. Her uninhibited strokes and compositions coupled with her sensual color palette have made Ms. Mengel’s works highly collectible.

Fernande Lipton’s French and Russian parentage and international upbringing has forged a distinct style as unique as her life experiences. Graduate of Pratt Institute and award recipient of the St.Gaudens Medal for Fine Draughtsmanship and First Prize at the 31st Beaux Arts Finals, Westchester County Federation of Women’ Clubs, Fernande has exhibited and is collected across the U.S., Puerto Rico, Europe and South America.

Fernande’s style relates to the graphic geometry of stained glass charged with emotion and energy. Sometimes the essence is whimsical and other times her work defines a serious topic. Her prints depicting the aftermath of the Gulf War in Iraq in 1991 are owned by President George Bush I; NY Congressman Hamilton Fish; General Colin Powell; N.Y. Senator Alfonse D’Amato; General Norman Schwarzkopf; General J. Van Proyden; the West Point Military Academy, and the original commissioned painting, now privately owned, was sought after by the Smithsonian Institute.
