The Joel Barlow Senior Show

The Senior Show, This Year Entitled “The End,” Returns to Barlow

After a few years’ absence, the Senior Show is back! This Barlow tradition, which is an original and comical performance that pokes fun at the quirks and oddities that can be found at Joel Barlow High School, has been revived by the Class of 2012.

Entitled “The End,” the performance is written, directed and produced entirely by members of the senior class. The performance is led by the team of executive directors Doug Streat and Jack Morris and executive producer Gayle Powell, who are working in conjunction with the Senior Class Council to get “The End” up on the stage.

Streat hopes to get as many seniors involved as possible: "Though I have always been heavily involved in theater during high school, many students have not had the opportunity,” he said. “One of the things that I think is great about the Senior Show is that it welcomes any and all seniors—with or without experience—to take part in a full-scale, enjoyable production."

With a cast of over fifty, twenty crew members, and numerous students who are involved in other ways, the Class of 2012 promises that this year's Senior Show will be one to remember.

As rehearsals for “The End” begin in the next few weeks, the senior class is looking for donations of Barlow-related t-shirts and Barlow spirit apparel, old or new. This includes old senior shirts, athletics clothing, event-specific shirts, school dance apparel, homecoming apparel, theater shirts, and anything else related to Barlow. It doesn't matter if it's tattered, torn, or stained. They need nearly 300 items of clothing for this project, so they welcome any and all donations and loans.

Donations can be thrown, as is, in a box located in the Front Office. All donations, large and small, are welcome given the scale of this project.

Streat, Powell and Morris all strongly encourage members of the senior class to participate in this production, and urge members of the community to join them for the performances. "This production is incredibly unifying for our class,” said Powell. “I can only hope that the audience will enjoy watching it as much as I enjoy being a part of it!"

The show will run for three performances on March 15, 16 and 17 at 7pm in the Joel Barlow High School auditorium and it is open to the community. Tickets are $10 for students and faculty and $15 for adults.
