Story Hour and Pony Rides with Author Patricia Hubbell

The Historical Society of Easton proudly hosts Patricia Hubbell, Easton resident and children’s author and poet who will entertain children for a fun-filled afternoon of “Children’s Story Time and Pony Rides” on Sunday, May 20th at the Bradley-Hubbell House, 535 Black Rock Road, Easton from 1 PM to 3 PM.

Patricia’s childhood home, now the historic Bradley-Hubbell House was the inspiration for her many books and poems.  She shares with children her cherished memories of grazing horses soaking up the sun’s rays, playful dogs nipping at her heels and the natural beauty surrounding the farmstead, orchards and reservoirs which she endlessly explored on horseback. Patricia Hubbell believes that “although there will be no more horses in the great old barn at the Bradley-Hubbell House, I think the memory of them will persist in the old beams and roof rafters, in the dusty windows and the now shady glade.”

Why not enjoy a spring afternoon reveling with Patricia Hubbell who returns to her homestead for this special event? She will provide a reading of her new books “Shaggy Dogs, Waggy Dogs” and “Horses: Trotting! Prancing! Racing!”  to children ages 2 through 6 years old. Perhaps her stories and memories of her childhood home will inspire a new generation of explorers, writers, naturalists, or equestrians. Books will also be available for sale at the Bradley Hubbell House during the event.

Although horses may no longer graze along scenic Black Rock Turnpike, ponies will roam the fields at the historic Bradley Hubbell House for youngsters to ride bringing Patricia Hubbell’s stories and recollections to life! Pony rides will be available on the Historial Society’s grounds for a small fee.

Please join the Historical Society of Easton for a wonderful afternoon of activities. A $5 donation is respectfully suggested.
