Book and Movie Downloads are a Library Card Away

Easton Public Library is able to provide patrons with access to eBooks, audio books and independent movie downloads from their home computers and mobile devices with use of their library cards.

Penelope, a library assistant who declined to give her full-name, says being part of a consortium of libraries allows Easton Public Library to buy a collection of books and movies.

Patrons visit EastonLibrary.org to create accounts for Overdrive, OneClick Digital, Zinio (which provides access to magazines) and indieflix for Independent movies.

Easton's collection includes a wide variety of genres, including all Harry Potter books on audio.

"eBooks are getting very popular," Penelope said. "There's a waiting list for the newest books and the New York Times best sellers — things like that."

Penelope hopes by growing the consortium, Easton can have more permissions shorter waiting lists.

"I do believe patrons enjoy doing the downloads," Penelope said, adding with a smile, "All ages of patrons."
