What's Open, Closed New Year's Eve, New Year's Day

Here's what's open, here's what's closed for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day in and around Weston, Redding and Easton.

Monday, New Year's Eve

OPEN Monday, Dec. 31:

  • Easton town government (no information to the contrary on the town website)
  • Redding town government (no information to the contrary on the town website)
  • Redding transfer station: Open 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (normal hours)
  • Weston town government (see PDF attached to this article)
  • Weston Transfer station (until noon; see PDF attached to this article)
  • Connecticut state offices (see PDF of 2012 state holiday schedule attached to this article)
  • Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (normally closed on Monday).
  • Banks (open regular hours unless they've posted signs to the contrary)

CLOSED Monday:

  • Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (not normally open on Mondays)

New Year's Day

The following are CLOSED New Year's Day:

Metro-North Service

The following information is from the Metro-North website:

  • "On Friday, Dec. 28, we start to gear up for New Year’s Eve. To make sure you get plenty of rest for the big night, we once again offer early getaway service. (See a current timetable or visit our schedules page.)"
  • Monday, Dec. 31: "[T]o make sure you arrive wherever you need to be to ring in 2013, we will provide a Saturday schedule with extra service in the AM and PM peak periods, as well as additional inbound trains in the late afternoon/early evening, and our traditional post-midnight late night/early morning service to get you home safely.
