Westport First Night Back for Twentieth Year

An annual tradition, First Night Westport-Weston, is once again scheduled for New Year's Eve.

The collection of events, which is a non-alcoholic celebration of the arts in Westport, will run from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on New Year's Eve. The events will conclude with a Fireworks display over the Saugatuck River.

"This truly has been a community effort and a wonderful gift to our local families," said Barbara Pearson-Rac, First Night's board president. "Again, we are bringing back your favorites and adding some new surprises, so please purchase your button and join the party."

Events are planned at a variety of downtown venues, and also at the Saugatuck Elementary School on Riverside Ave., where a variety of performances for children and families will be staged, including a special performance by ventriloquist Jonathan Geffner.
