Snow is Wreaking Havoc on Area Roads

From Greenwich to Fairfield, travel is slow.

A quick-moving snow squall has covered Fairfield County roads with fluffy dry snow that is making road conditions slippery.

On I-95, most lanes, as well as exit and entrance ramps are covered in snow from Greenwich to Fairfield. Traffic was moving about 40 mph late morning Wednesday.

On the Merritt Parkway near northbound Greenwich Exit 31, a car was reported to be partially over the guardrail just before 11 a.m. Wednesday. Motorists should keep in mind that the Connecticut DOT crews are making repairs in the area of exits 28 and 29 on the Merritt, closing one lane to traffic until 3 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service's special weather advisory for Fairfield County, locally heavy snow is expected until early afternoon with accumulations of about an inch.
