Flooding Lifts Cars in West Redding Center

Heavy rain caused flooding in West Redding Center Monday. On Tuesday, Police Chief Douglas Fuchs told reporters Long Ridge Road and Simpaug Turnpike were completely under water.

"Three percent of the town was without power," Fuchs said.

When it stopped raining, Fuchs said the water receded from the roads quickly. However, he said affected roads were closed to traffic for about four hours.

Dottie DeLuca, owner of Fleur De Lis Antiques and Décor, 4 Long Ridge Road, shared flood photos with Patch.

"We got about three feet of water in an hour or so," DeLuca said. "Three cars had to be rescued as they were floating away. It was crazy!"
