Emmanuel Episcopal Church Has a New Parish Hall

The Rev. Robert Ross and Christine Juneau, a country fair organizer, stood in a large open room of Emmanuel Episcopal Church's new parish hall on Wednesday afternoon. They looked up at the high pitched ceiling and the smell of fresh paint still hung in the air.

After years of patch-jobs, the Rev. Ross said his parishioners decided to tear down the old parish hall and build a new one in its place on the church's 285 Lyons Plain Road campus.

"We had a worship service," the Rev. Ross said. "Then we invited First Selectman Gail Weinstein to a ribbon cutting ceremony where we announced people can rent it."

He said his church is planning a dedication ceremony for its new facility for Oct. 6.

The new parish hall holds 277 people for standing room only, and can accommodate 180 people seated and 131 sitting around tables, according to the Rev. Ross.

The parish hall has two open rooms and a commercial kitchen. Juneau said people have the option of just renting out the kitchen.

Those interested in renting the parish hall for an event should call Office Manager Stephanie Larsen at 203-227-8565.
