The National Weather Service(NWS) issued a warning Tuesday afternoon that developing thunderstorms are approaching the Danbury area and are moving Northeast at 25 miles per hour. Storms are expected to hit Danbury at approximately 2:00 p.m., according to the NWS. Small hail and wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour are expected with these storms.
The National Weather Service stated that lightning is one of nature's number one killers. If you can hear thunder then lightning is nearby. Seek indoor shelter immediately.
There is also a flash flood warning for Northern and Southern Fairfield County through late Tuesday night. Rivers and streams could flood into roads causing dangerous driving conditions.
