"Break It - Make It" Workshop at the Mark Twain Library

"Break It - Make It" Workshop at the Mark Twain Library Saturday, April 6

Children Can Take Apart Electronics and Learn How They Work

Have your children ever wondered what’s inside a telephone, how a toaster works, or what makes an alarm clock buzz?  Attending the “Break It – Make It” workshop at the Mark Twain Library on Saturday, April 6 at 11:00 will help to answer some of these questions and more.  Armed with screwdrivers and pliers, children in first through fourth grade can disassemble common household appliances and electronics to see what makes them work.  Parents are invited and encouraged to attend this workshop.

The program will be directed by Charlie Baumgartner, of the Connecticut State Invention Convention.  Charlie will explain the equipment’s inner-workings, how to use tools, and describe how machines work.  Children can theorize how the products work before they’re taken apart and try to experiment with new designs.

Many electronics will be donated by the Redding Transfer Station, but participants are also welcome to their own items from home.  Please call the Mark Twain Library at (203) 938-2545 or visit their website (www.marktwainlibrary.org) to sign up.
