Uniquely American Floors
Distressed flooring evokes the history of wood floors in America. Once hardwood floors were from trees cut nearby, hand scraped and worn smooth over time. Distressed wood floors call up that period. Nail holes may be visible as wood was reused, making this flooring the original 'green' alternative.
Heart pine adds authentic warm to country decor. Heart pine is the heart wood, or older harder central wood in a tree. Pine trees were larger in years past, and that part of the tree was made into flooring. It is dark in color, resists decay and is more stable than lighter sapwood. Currently heart pine is available from recent source trees or reclaimed wood being recycled as heart pine.
