The boys basketball team looks to get back on track Thursday when the Trojans host New Fairfield at 7 p.m.

Weston suffered a 76-65 loss to Bethel on Tuesday. It was only the second loss of the season for the Trojans, who dropped to 6-2.

Evan Vlitzer scored a career-high 20 points for Weston while Max Molinsky added 15 points and Eric Dammen-Brauer contributed 11 for the Trojans, who were outscored 46-34 in the second half after taking a 31-30 halftime lead.

New Fairfield is just 1-8 and has lost seven in a row, includung Tuesday's 57-48 defeat to Stratford.

Meanwhile, the Weston girls basketball team will be on the road at New Fairfield (also at 7 p.m.)

Ellie Martin scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds on Tuesday as the surging Trojans rolled to a 53-30 victory over Bethel.

Anna Mahony added 14 points for the Trojans, who improved to 4-6. Weston has won three straight and four of its last five following an 0-4 start.

The Staples-Weston-Shelton boys hockey team remained undefeated with a 4-3 victory over Suffield-Grandby-Windsor Locks on Wednesday at the Milford Ice Pavilion.

Eric Zurmuehle, Matt Weisgerber, Sean Stewart and Forrest Savage each scored goals for the Wreckers, who improved to 5-0.

Mike Thompson scored two goals and Ryan Kertanis added one for SGWL, which dropped to 4-4.

The Wreckers prevailed despite getting outshot by a 49-21 margin. Riley Macdonald made 46 saves for Staples-Weston-Shelton.
