Danbury Man Arrested for DUI in Redding

Redding Police news, March 20 to March 24.

A 43-year-old Danbury man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after a motor vehicle stop on Black Rock Turnpike early Sunday morning.

According to police, officers received a report of a vehicle operating erratically at 12:18 a.m. Officers located the vehicle, driven by Jorge Yupangui. Upon stopping the vehicle, officers determined Yupangui had consumed alcohol before driving. He subsequently failed field sobriety tests and was taken in to custody, where his blood alcohol content was measured to be more than two times the legal limit.

Yupangui, who was also charged with driving without a license, was held on $60 bond and given an April 4 court date.

Luis Calabrese, 34, of Ridgefield, was picked up by Westport Police on a warrant issued by Redding Police. Calabrese was arrested in March 2011 for sixth-degree larceny and never showed up in court to answer those charges. He was arrested following a motor vehicle stop in Westport on March 20 at 6:07 p.m.

Estelle Wilcox, 43, of Wagon Wheel Road was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and operating an unregistered motor vehicle following a license plate reader hit on Black Rock Turnpike on March 24.

According to police, officers determined her vehicle’s registration had expired in January.

She was released on the scene and given an April 5 court date.

On March 24, two Great Oak Lane residents reported one of the tires on a vehicle they owned had been slashed.
